Watch how this Iberian ribbed newt tries to catch an insect that is floating on the surface of a vernal pool in the mountains of Granada (Spain). The Iberian ribbed newt (Pleurodeles waltl), is Europe’s largest salamander species, and can be found in invernal pools in large parts of southern Spain.

The Iberian ribbed newt (Gallipato in Spanish) is a “near threathened” species, according to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
